The Pummill’s Larry Pummill Sr. is the origin of the families interest in racing and overall love of hot rods. This origin traces back before 1955 as he had built and raced many cars. He had not only a love for performance but overall beauty of the sport as he competed in not only racing but also displayed his work off in several car shows. He was part of the “Hot Rod” era where cars are labeled American muscle. Amongst many he built some notable rides would be a 1937 (pictured center) business men coupe, 1968 Camaro (pictured far left), 1978 Camaro (pictured far right), 1927 roadster, and a 1927 t-bucket. Several of these cars are pictured above as they remain in the family and still alive after his passing. One thing that Larry Sr. passed on to his son Larry Pummill Jr. (Art) was his love for Hot rods. Art’s passion for the sport started when he was a child watching and helping his father wrench on some amazing cars. As he developed so did his car, acquiring his race car in the 70’s as a teenager Art modified his very first car he drove to high school into what is truly a modern machine. This 1955 Chevy (pictured right of center) is still to this day a very fast street car. Equipped with a Merlin 540 cubic inch engine producing well over 1500 horsepower this tri-five could be the fastest in the country. Zachary Pummill is Arthur’s youngest child and was raised around racing through the 90’s. As a kid he was on Art’s pit crew when racing the 55 Chevy. The story repeats again through the hours spent wrenching on hot rods developed yet another generation for the sport. This year will be the first season he competes in and he will be racing his grandfather’s 1978 Camaro (pictured far right). |
